In the year 2021, a lot had happened and most of the countries implemented pandemic lockdown, daily lives have to change, including social life, job routine, and skincare routines. Some people used their extra free time to pursue hobbies, while others chose to devote it to their families or learning new skills. Most women had to use other alternatives to take care of their skin by themselves since beauty parlors or salons were closed down. We've put together a list of the best 2021 skincare ingredients and how they can help you maintain your skin's health.
Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in your body. It is a clear, gooey substance or also known as hyaluronan. It is found in the highest concentrations in your skin, connective tissue, and eyes. Its primary purpose is to hold water to keep your tissues lubricated and moist. It is one of the best moisturizing agents for both dry and oily skin. Hyaluronic acid serums and moisturizers can be used in your skincare routine, especially in the summer and winter. It will plump the skin by keeping the moisture and preventing it from evaporating into the atmosphere. It's also a component in a lot of long-lasting lipsticks and lip tints.
Niacinamide
Niacinamide, commonly known as nicotinamide, is a type of vitamin B-3 that is essential for an individual's health. Skin, renal, and brain problems can all be caused by a B-3 deficiency. Application of Niacinamide to body surfaces may help treat certain skin conditions, including acne and eczema. It has many skin benefits, including significantly lowering wrinkles and hyperpigmentation, repairing sun damage, protecting skin cells from oxidative damage, and levelling out skin tone. It has anti-inflammatory qualities, making it beneficial in the treatment of acne breakouts. Niacinamide can be found in serums, cleansers, toners, moisturizers, and masks. Experts advise picking products with a lower niacinamide concentration if you have sensitive skin. According to Dr. Monica Li, a dermatologist and clinical instructor in the Department of Dermatology & Skin Science at the University of British Columbia, "the scientific literature suggests 5% as optimal for achieving desired effects and higher concentrations may cause skin irritation".
Retinol
Retinol is one of the best-known skincare ingredients on the market due to its support of elegant aging and good effects on acne and skin tone, retinol has gained favor in the skincare market in recent years. Retinol is a vitamin A compound, it's a potent antioxidant that fights free radicals, lowers acne, promotes cell renewal, decreases fine lines and wrinkles, and boosts collagen formation in your skin. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, over-the-counter retinol is available in doses of up to 2%. (AAD) retinoids that are more potent may require a prescription. Retinol comes in a liquid serum, gel, cream, and emollient form. It may make your skin more susceptible to the sun, so be sure to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen afterwards.
Vitamin C
There are many forms of Vitamin C like L-Ascorbic Acid, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Ascorbyl Glucoside and many more and Ascorbyl Glucoside is the most stable form of Vitamin C for your skin. There are many benefits of Ascorbyl Glucoside such as reducing free radical damage; treating hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tones and age spots; and boosting collagen production. Dr. Li advises if you are using both Niacinamide and Vitamin C "combining niacinamide with vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, makes niacin, and may cause skin irritation and transient flushing. Those with particularly sensitive skin or who have rosacea should be especially cautious when combining niacinamide with other products that may include vitamin C. Consider applying one ingredient in the morning and one at night. Or use [them] on alternating days".
Vitamin C is commonly found in cleansers, serums, moisturizers, sunscreens and masks.
Beauty by Jabees' Eyes with Radiance Serum and Glow Up Essence Face Serum are vitamin C products for all skin types and are gender-neutral.
